Starting from mid-May, a helicopter carrying a large antenna suspended underneath will fly at low altitude over the municipalities of Onanì, Lula, Bitti, and Orune. The survey will be used to gather information about the subsurface down to a depth of 500 metres, improving our understanding of the geological and hydrogeological structure of the area selected to host the future Einstein Telescope, while ensuring full respect for the local environment.
The methodology used poses no risk to public health, as the electromagnetic waves emitted by the antenna are of low intensity. The only inconvenience caused by the survey will be the noise from the aircraft's rotor as it flies at low altitude over rural areas. Residents are therefore advised to take precautionary measures to prevent animals — horses in particular — from being startled.
No video or photographic recording will take place, and the privacy of residents will not be compromised.
Flight schedule details will be published 2 days in advance on this page. Please note, however, that last-minute changes may occur due to unpredictable weather conditions.
It is possible to download the flyer for more synthetic information.
